L'Espace Paul Rebeyrolle


Open since 1995, "Espace Paul Rebeyrolle", museum and art center, is dedicated to the famous painter born in Eymoutiers (1926-2005). The modern building, whose architect is Olivier Chaslin, was built at the request of the mayor and Eymoutiers town council, with the genrous support of the artist.

More than fifty of his paintings are exposed, Sculptures with outstanding sizes have just come to enhance this collection and occupy the garden of the Espace Paul Rebeyrolle.

Paul Rebeyrolle has become one of the main artist of the 20th Century. His powerful work, sometimes violent, is a call to freedom, a rebellion against injustice, intolerance, enslavement of mankind and nature, a real testimony of our time.

Every year, the Espace Paul Rebeyrolle organises temporary exhibitions that enable visitors to descover unique but always exceptionnal careers. Jean Paul Riopelle, Georges Braque, Michel Macréau, Fernand Léger, César, Jacques Monory, Roel D'Haese, Jean Dubuffet were invited by the museum. Pablo Picasso was exposed in 2008, Marc Chagall in 2009, and Joan Miro in 2010.

From the 23rd of June to the 30th of November

A selection of painting specialy lent for the event and gathered for the 1st time, will join "Le Cyclope" and the main work of the permanent collection. The opportunity to take a new look at this museum, to see again, in all its strength and diversity a collection that is a very sensual anthem of substances and colors of the world, in memory of the artist and his wife, who died in 2012.

A catalogue of this exhibition shown in Eymoutiers has been published by the Espace Paul Rebeyrolle.

"Art en famille" : the 1st Sunday of each month, all year, from 14h to 16h.

"Matière et création" : during the school holidays (except July and August) from 14h to 16h,

"Les arts au soleil" every thursday in july and august, 11h guided visit and from 14h to 16h, art workshop,

"1 mardi sur 2" : in July and August.

Open every day :

June, July and August from 10h to 19h

The rest of the year from 10h to 18h, except December from 10h to 17h.

Closed January, the 1st May and the 24th, 25th and 31st December.

Entry price gives access to the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.

Full price : 5€, reduced rate : 2,50 €, free for children younger than 12 years old.
